Where it lives
On your device only โ in your browser's local storage. Nothing is synced to a Hey Junie server or database. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, it's gone unless you use "Back up my data" first.
Where it goes
When you ask Junie to plan or chat, the relevant family context (not everything โ just what's needed to answer) is sent to an AI provider (Anthropic's Claude by default, via a server-side key Hey Junie controls; or OpenAI/Google if you've pasted your own key under ๐ AI key) to generate a response. That request isn't stored by Hey Junie afterward.
An anonymous, one-per-day ping (a random ID and the date โ no name, no content) is sent so Kathryn can tell whether real families are coming back, which is how this gets better instead of guessed at.
What Hey Junie never does
Never sells or shares your family's data with advertisers or third parties
Never shows ads
Never sends your data anywhere without you taking an action that requires it (planning, chatting, or an integration you turn on yourself)
โ ๏ธ Allergies & diets โ please read
Junie plans around the diets and allergies you set, adapts recipes (e.g. swaps dairy), and flags conflicts โ but she works from ingredient names and estimates, and AI can make mistakes.
Always check the actual product labels yourself before cooking or serving, especially for a real allergy. Junie is a planning helper, not a substitute for reading ingredients or medical advice.
